Loadbearing Wall
Remove (or make or extend an opening in) a loadbearing wall
Generally, loads from above must be resupported with a beam and posts. Specification and sizing of the new structure will depend on the loads carried, the span, and how the load will be carried down to the bearing soil.
An experienced carpenter, or qualified framing contractor may be able to determine the beam and post sizes required and can accomplish a sound and safe installation based on their own expertise and experience.
If the project is more involved, the contractor is unsure, or a permit is required, a stamped and signed drawing will be required by the local municipality.
