Structural Alteration:
While non-loadbearing walls may be removed without compromising the existing structure, the removal of a loadbearing wall or making or extending an opening in a load bearing wall, must be done with care.
An experienced carpenter, or qualified framing contractor will likely be able to determine the beam and post sizes required and can accomplish a sound and safe installation based on their own expertise and experience.
If the project is more involved, the contractor is unsure, or a permit is required, a stamped and signed drawing will be required by the local municipality.
